"A new year is here, and once again The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Road to Healthy Skin Tour, presented by AVEENO® and RITE AID is underway. The Tour, now in its fourth year, provides free full-body skin exams by local volunteer dermatologists.
The 2011 Tour will make an estimated 80 stops in 24 states. Over the past three years, our volunteer dermatologists have discovered nearly 200 suspected melanomas, potentially saving many lives. In addition, these doctors have found 2,202 suspected actinic keratoses (the most common precancer); 970 suspected basal cell carcinomas, and 362 suspected squamous cell carcinomas. They have also helped educate the public about enjoying sun safe lifestyles, as well as the importance of doing self-exams and having annual dermatological check-ups."
