Friday, June 5th is National Donut Day, which is basically a holy day if you have a massive sweet tooth. The big chains give away an absurd amount of food every year, but if you don’t want to end up waiting in a brutal line just to find out they ran out of everything good by 9:00 AM, you need a game plan.
First, the catch: most of these places aren't just handing out pastries to people walking by. You almost always have to buy a coffee or something to get the freebie. Also, do yourself a favor and download the apps right now. Nobody wants to be that person holding up a line of highly caffeinated, impatient people at 7:30 AM because their phone won't load a barcode. Oh, and go early. The good flavors vanish fast.

Duck Donuts - Celebrates National Donut Day with a Free Cinnamon Sugar Donut In-Store on Friday, June 6, 2026. No Purchase Necessary
Dunkin' is sticking to their usual routine. On Friday the 5th, you get a free classic donut when you buy any drink. They’re actually starting a bit early on Monday, June 1st—if you buy a half-dozen, they're throwing in a free tote bag. They also have some merchandise collab with Stoney Clover Lane dropping Friday, if you're into that.
Krispy Kreme - Celebrates National Doughnut Day (June 5) with FREE Doughnut and $2 Original Glazed Dozen BOGO
Shipley Do-Nuts is dragging it out, which is great. Instead of just Friday, you can get a free original glazed with any purchase every single Friday in June.
Stan’s Donuts has arguably the craziest promo this year. If you're in the Chicago area, stop by on Friday the 5th for a free Chocolate Dipped donut with any purchase. But here’s the wild part: they're hiding a few colored cake donuts in the boxes. If you get a pink one, you win free donuts for a year. If you find a green one, you get free donuts for life.
Voodoo Doughnut is taking care of their loyalty members. If you're in their Fan Club, you get a free donut of your choice (minus the crazy specialty ones) on Friday. Plus, the first 100 people through the door at each location get a free pink XL box tote bag when they buy something.
Parlor Doughnuts is handing out a free French Toast Layered Doughnut with any purchase on Friday. If you’ve never had their layered donuts, they’re incredibly flaky and basically worth the trip alone.
Lidl: If you live near one of these grocery stores, they're one of the few places offering a total freebie with zero purchase required. You just have to clip a coupon in their app and grab a donut from the bakery case on Friday.
7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes aren't doing "free," but 50-cent glazed donuts for rewards members on Friday is still a steal. Word is they aren’t limiting how many you can buy at that price, which feels slightly dangerous but good to know.
Tim Hortons is making it a whole week-long event from June 1st through June 7th. Rewards members get a free classic or specialty donut with a purchase.
